Bio
Scott Paterson is a Project Lead at IDEO with an emphasis on architecture and interaction design. His work focuses on the intersection of technology and space whether designing mobile applications, embedded interfaces or physical environments. Scott's passionate about understanding how our experience can be supported, mediated and inspired by great interaction design. Since joining IDEO, he has developed a range of media solutions from community building within senior living residences to improving the body care experience.

Prior to joining IDEO, Scott was Associate Creative Director and Principal Designer at Frog Design in New York. There he led interaction projects from mobile touch-enabled personnel badges for Motorola, to large-scale digital walls for Hyatt Hotels in Moscow. Scott also served for six years as an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design, teaching interaction design within the Design and Technology MFA program.

Scott lectures internationally about interaction design and art. His PDA-based art works have been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Walker Art Center, the Banff Centre for the Arts, and venues in Amsterdam, Berlin, Florence, and Mexico City.

Trained as an architect, his education includes a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters degree from Columbia University. Scott has received independent artist grants from the Walker Art Center, Parsons School of Design, and The Design Institute at the University of Minnesota. His work has been published in a number of books.
